I'm sure I saw these being "demonstrated" on C&C some time back, being pushed as an extra fine nib that could click on and off the Promarker. Every time though the demonstrator was struggling to make the thing work. As I have strength problems with wrists, hands, fingers it put me right off the idea.

I thought those were the Tria pens but I'm quite happy to be corrected on this...

Welly is right, those were the Tria pens with the extra nib... I think the ones being talked about is an extra nib to go on any Promarker 2 nib pen. Letting you have a finer nib with your regular Promarkers.

Letraset states that they think people already using Promarkers will most likely buy a few to go with their most used pens.

So you can use them with your current Promarkers, that's a relief then! :whew:
(Seeing as I only recently bought DD a set of the original 92 pens for her birthday.....gawd, I'd have been so peed off if they suddenly brought out a different set you could only use the fine nibs with....! LOL)

Any whispers about the price of these desirable little items?

At the moment they're only available from certain stockists - free when you buy single Promarkers. Makes me think that they're not sure how well they'll be received, why else would they make it so difficult to get hold of them?

Look forward to being able to get my hands on them. Going to try local store tomorrow, had an email that they have some. Wish me luck that they still have some stock.

I would definitely like to try them, depending on price of course, as I have a couple of stamps with really teeny weeny thin bits that it seems to be a physical impossibility to get a current Promarker nib into without going over the lines!

If you cant get hold of them Clarity Barbara mentioned on one of her shows about using Cut-n-dry pen nibs for fine details. Just hold a promarker against the nib and it absorbs the dye and then your away. I bought a pack of 10 for £5 and they work really well. Obviously a bit more fiddly though!

Great idea... it's combining a design feature of the Tria marker (it comes with 3 nibs as standard) with the cheaper widely used promarkers. It will make life a lot easier for all of us that need to get into small areas - most images have a bit that's fiddly if you want to blend more than one colour that is.

I wonder if it takes off, will they consider the brush shaped tip like the ones they have for Tria pens - the idea there is that artists can opt for the ones they prefer to work with. But it would also be an option for copic users who prefer the brush tip.

If anyone comes across an online store offering them could you please post it. My local craft store closed down earlier this year and I do want to add to my collection so it would be good to hopefully get a couple of the freebie ones with the pens to give them a try before splashing out more dosh lol.

Did notice on the site that they are single colour use only as the colours may contaminate so it looks like it could get expensive lol.

Just catching up on this thread and , yes what C&C demonstrated were the Tria pens.

I find get a good result with the cut and dry nibs for finer bits. They don't last that long though but could be that is because I tend to be a bit heavy handed.

Very generous of them, but at £2 for 3 it will bankrupt me trying to get one for every ruddy colour! 148/3 = (call it 50) x £2 = £100!!!!! They are, of course, kidding!

It would be much more appropriate to put them in packs of say 10 for £2!

I went into Hobbycraft today and noticed they has started selling single promarkers - expensive at £1.99, but I bought one that I needed. Was surprised when the girl behind the counter said I could have a free spare top!! It was of course one of the nibs, haven't tried it yet as I can't decide which colour to use it on.

Free top seems to be quite a standard promotion at the moment.

Would be interested to know how easy it is to get these nibs on and off. Certainly the Tria pens caused problems when they were demoed.

I was at the Newbruy stamp show yesterday and several companies were offering the new nibs with their promarkers, so I asked if I could try one. I was impressed at the fine nib and the one I tried came off and went back on easily. As to how many nibs will be needed, that's the million dollar question! Personally I shall choose my favourite colours out of the darker tones (as with the light tones I usually find it not too difficult to get into small areas without making / seeing mistakes) and start with those. I was wondering if it would be possible to place the nib over a blender and 'clean' it! That may use too much of the blending fluid though to be econmical.

I tried my nib today, popped it onto my pear green promarker as I use that a lot for fine detail on stems and leaves. I too was impressed and it pops on and off quite easily. Interesting idea with the blender Jammy, I might try it and see - couldn't possibly afford to buy nibs for all my pens and buying an extra blender would be a lot cheaper.

They can be cleaned out with a little Isopropyl Alcohol and this makes them suitable for interchanging to any pen. Just keep some in a screw top jar and drop the nib in squish it around and fish it out and air dry (it doesn't take long).

I use Isopropyl instead of blending solution for Alcohol Inks

I wonder if surgical spirit would work - I use this to clean my stamps instead of Stazon cleaner and to use with my AI

After I posted the above. I wondered if instead of having a nib for ever marker it would be okay to use one nib to a colour group. Say one for the pale blues another for the darks, etc. etc.

Craft Obsessions are doing a 'free nib' offer and free p&P over £10 atm  and it is always excellent service from them too!:nod::nod:

Quote from email:

"We have another special offer to tell you about too - Letraset have released a new Ultra-Fine nib for ProMarkers. This nifty little attachment simply slips over the existing fine nib on the pen, give it a few seconds to soak up the ink and voila! - you have an fantastic Ultra-Fine pen nib that takes your ProMarkers into another dimension - AND WE ARE GIVING THEM AWAY while stocks last. We'll supply a FREE Ultra-Fine nib with every purchase of 3 ProMarker pens - this offer also applies to pen sets, so if you were to by one of the new 12 Pen Blender Sets for example - we'll give you 4 Ultra-Fine nibs. Come and get them before they run out!"

Just read that Joanna Sheen will be selling these and hopefully they should be in next week. Someone posted on there that you could use 1 for each colour group and I also wondered about using either a blender pen or blending solution to clean them. I might look at changing to the Isopropyl Alcohol (thanks for that) when I need to replace my blending solution.

Joanna Sheen has just added these to her bargain section, she's selling them at 99p for 3 but if you want them I'd hurry as I don't think they'll be there for long, I've ordered 4 sets for myself, probably should have got more but money is a bit tight and I think 12 nibs should be enough for now.

It's not entirely necessary to clean each time with isopropyl, it's the sort of thing I do between drastic colour changes. I've found that using kitchen towel or the like to absorb the ink from the detached nib, bit like blotting paper, is enough to clean it out. The idea that you will need a vast number of these nibs is just so wrong, working with them like this I've used only two so far.

Got them this morning and we just put two on : black and blender. Takes nearly no time to soak up the ink and I was well impressed how fine they are, so I'll put them on my fave colours especially the double ones...so I don't have to keep removing it and putting it back on.

Have received mine, I ordered 6 - direct from Letraset and they are brilliant. I found I had to "scribble" on a piece of waste paper to clean the nib of the previous colour.

I got some when I was away and managed to have a play. I like them very much. I also used one to pick up distress inks which it did beautifully and, as it is much finer than the cut and dry nibs, adds something new. I simply rinsed it through with water and it was fine to use again with my Promarkers. If people want a brush tip the Tria one can be made to fit over the chisel end of the Promarker but it would be nice to have one designed especially.

Letraset responded very quickly to customer demand for the ultra fine nibs so if people want a brush tip I suggest we all e-mail Letraset and ask. They can only say no!

I got lazy with them yesterday when I was finished I popped my nib on a blender and scribbled the ink out. It worked like a charm, quicker than just scribbling alone.

It never occurred to me that it would be possible to wash them out in water but after Andy Skinner's great video with Alcohol Inks in water I'll be trying that.
