As some of you predicted, getting a grand calibur has become the beginning of a spellbinders (and other cutting dies) addiction lol.
I treated myself to some dies when create and craft had the spellbinders one time only shows, got two grand labels which I love, the set of four dies with the rose creation, fleur de lis rectangles, a set of labels and the beaded ovals and I already had small scalloped circles. For christmas I got the grand scalloped circles and fancy tags three so its not a bad start. I have one of the ribbon borders and ribbon flower creatables as well as the eastern round dies from Nellies (and by the way the smaller two of the eastern rounds look very much like cogs so great for steampunk).
So the point of my post - which of your spellbinders or other dies would you regard as must haves and wouldnt be without. As I will have to build up my collection very slowly after this great start, I really would appreciate all your insights.
Thanks very much.

So pleased that you're having fun with the GC morgana. I wouldn't be without mine! I've steadily built up a collection of dies, and one I use a lot is Labels 17. It's not a grand die, but it's one of the biggest 'normal' ones. It provides a great space for stamping. The one I use least is the normal octagon. Don't know why!!
I have Labels1 in both Grand and standard (very useful). I like the Labels range alot and reaslised that it was useful to have both square and rectangle shaped labels dies. I also often use my labels 11 and 18. In fact I use labels much more than nested circles or squares. I love my Parisian accents, which often get used to accent a card (lol). Today was pay day for me, so I was straight on to C&C to buy 3 sets of Edgeabilities in their sale, choosing designs which currently will substitute for the Martha Stewart edgers that I most frequently reach for.

For me it's the basic shapes for matting and layering - squares, rectangles, ovals, circles - and matching scallops - both grand and standard. And for added interest/decoration I'm rather into the edgabilities. I haven't ventured into the more decorative dies as yet - but there's always time!! Cxx

I only have a Cuttlebug but when I first got it I tried to buy dies that would be difficult to cut any other way such as basic circles & ovals. Then I realised I wanted something a little 'fancier' so I went on to fancy edge circles & ovals & then I discovered labels. Then of course there are the lovely Marianne dies and all the embossing folders. Oh, and the edgabilities and don't ever, ever go to the' Dies to die for' site. Not if you value eating and heating your home!
Enjoy your new toy - I'm very envious, although I do love my little bug.

Basic shapes for matting and layering as far as I am concerned. I seem to use the oval dies of various sizes a lot as I seem to have a lot of stamps that fit very nicely into the space.
I am also enjoying making a collection of Shapeability dies /Sizzlits etc(lots of Christmas ones) as it is a very quick way of making a card.

Well I just couldnt resist could I - I had to go and have a look but I have been very good and all I have done is made a mental list of which ones I want when I win the lottery lol.
Thanks everyone for your input - it really is helpful.

I went and had a look too - and quickly exited before I even started making a mental list - what I haven't seen I can't be hankering after - but thanks for sharing!!! Cxxx

I'd like to add that the ovals and circles are great, especially if you get the scalloped shapes to match. I won't be buying the basic squares and rectangles because I figure that I can easily produce those shapes myself, and so would prefer to buy some of the fancier shapes.

I'll let you know when I finally get a GC! been to a couple of craft shops today and no one had one, also the man in one reckons they sell it for £99, I told him about JS being £89 and he said how silly they won't be making anything!

I used spellbinders for all my xmas cards and now I have a hankering for a Grand Caliber, but pennies won't stretch that far.
My favourite and most used nesties is the Curved Rectangles set. Fits nicely on a A5 card. x

Joanna Sheen has put the price of hers up to £99 for when she gets them back in stock so looks like that is going to be the average crafft store price. I am so appreciative of the help I received from Sheperdess in tracking one down for me so I got my christmas pressie, she really is an absolute treasure.

Do the Grand Nestabilities dies go through a cuttlebug ok?

The grand nesties need the larger size of the grand calibur to use all of them in the sets. Im not sure if some of the smaller ones would go through - dont have a cuttlebug, have a big shot - but I wanted to be able to cut grand nesties to make large fancy shaped cards hence I got the grand calibur and Im loving it. I do know Rich from country view crafts posted something a while ago about compatability of sizes for the grand dies with other machines, he may be able to advise you.

The large dies don't, worth checking out the list that Rich did for this. Grand Nestabilities really are big but I needed the larger sizes so this is why I went in for a BigShot Pro
Hope this link works, it should be to the post Rich made:

you need to scroll down the posts to find the particular info Rich posted.
