Can't see anyone else has started this already, so forgive me if you have.
I'm a lucky duck every month, but this month I got Dynzi and she decided to recycle - but she tells me she cut up her cookbook, which sounds more like vandalism to me! I am really chuffed with my card, so I feel it was all worth it! There's some yummy daisies and some Spellbinder die-cuts here as well. Enjoy!

I don't think I'd describe my card as 'lovely'! Different to my usual stuff I suppose, and that's the good thing about the monthly swap! I just rummaged through my stamps and found 5 different sets that could work with the theme. Just mixed them up!

Lovely cards, Dyzni & Welly - what is the leaf embossing folder, Welly please?

It's a cuttlebug one - I just checked the folder & it's not on there! I'll have a nosey & find the name of it...Got it, Birds & Swirls. Rich has a pic of it at CVC here (http://www.countryviewcrafts.co.uk/37-1609-cuttlebug-embossing-folder---a2---birds--swirls-1092-p.asp), but it's out of stock. I have a feeling it's quite an old one that may be obsolete now?

Just for info, I decided to combine both themes - the bird is die cut from a can of Rubicon Guava pop; I was originally just going to use the un-printed silver interior, but was rather taken with the colours so used it that way instead & had enough of the tin left that I could also die cut some flowers too (Spellbinders Floral doily motifs). Ran the die cuts through another folder (Budding Vine from Craft Concepts, it says here), the glossy yellow card was packaging from a stationery set & the leaves are die cut (bug dies) from this sort of thick, almost fabric-like tissue paper that was used to pad out the box & protect something or other when it was delivered; it's not paper crinkly or rustle-y, it's fibrous IYSWIM - & I finally managed to use my vellum dots to stick something down LOL They've been floating round my tool box for something like 4yrs & this the first time I've used them.

Thanks for that, Welly - it was the large leaves on the white background I was meaning though. Is that an embossing folder?

Nah, 'snot an embossing folder, that was the bit with the die cut leaves from the fabric-y packing tissue paper - they're just stuck around the edges of the cream card I used for the card base...

My rather fab card from Millburn arrived at some point over the weekend - I don't know when cos it was when I was away & hubby never mentioned that I'd had post...I just found it under the dining table last evening *sigh*

Anyway, I can now share it with you:

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff110/Wellybobs/Card%20Swaps/MillburnMay12-1.jpg

and a better catch of the light on the gilding flakes

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff110/Wellybobs/Card%20Swaps/MillburnMay122.jpg

I've tried to capture the sparkly embossing as well

http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff110/Wellybobs/Card%20Swaps/MillburnMay12detail.jpg

There's a pattern on the vellum, which I'm not sure if Millburn's printed/stamped/was already on the vellum but it lovely & subtle

Thank you Chris

I'm just glad it's arrived :D and that you like it :D

The vellum I printed off; it's from the serif butterflies POTD, and it isn't embossing the black it's glitter with the indigoblu glue on a stamp :D

My head went alsorts of places with the theme; I have some lovely (well I adore them) decoupages of birds from QVC a few yrs ago (bought them twice over) but I wanted to do for me something out of my comfort zone, and I bought the tree stamp at my day out at Amy's class (QVC did the set with something I didn't want) and making it was a total happy release, but isn't that why we make make cards :D

Thanks, Welly. It's a lovely effect - I wouldn't have thought of that. Someone should make an embossing folder like that

What beautiful cards and so many great techniques. I have often wondered if we should include a brief note with how cards have been made when sending a card in the swaps. In the birthday swap I have been waiting for peeps to ask how I made some of my cards but no-one has  and I thought I had been so clever sometimes. You can tell it's almost my first swap! It is a great opportunity to try something different and I love to study each card to see how they are done.

Apologies for the delay, but .....DRUMROLL ..... here is your amazing card Kaz. I've taken quite a few photos to show the layers, and hopefully you'll all be able to make out the acetate 'flap' which has the bird on the branch. The embossing folder is lovely as a background, and I've also taken a photo of the back which shows Karen's attention to detail. Thank you so much for such a lovely card Kaz.
