Received my beautiful November swap from Mitzi this morning
She chose the oriental theme

The base is a black shaped card onto which she has matted what looks like her own hand made paper, with oriental lettering and flashes of gold. Onto which she has placed a lovely red and gold dragon peeloff that has been coloured in with glittering gold and then she has used peel off with the symbol of fire
There was also a lovely hand made envelope to match
Thank you Mitzi I love it

Sorry the last image is sideways but imageshack won't let me change it, says the action is forbidden

Glad it got there OK. You're right about it being hand made (and hand gold-marbled) paper, but sadly not by me. I've tried papermaking in the past, but never with such good results. I did stamp the Chinese text on it (second impression to make it look faded.) I was quite fond of the little dragon by the time the card was finished so I'm glad he's gone to a good home.

I love this swap, for challenging me to make something outside my normal comfort zone.

Received my card from Thameside, its beautiful and the cutwork is stunning i am in awe of people that can cut that neatly,

although i am afraid its impossible to tell what has been cut from this picture, sadly the only one for the moment as typically my camera battery died, still at least i managed to get one photo, must be having a good day as normally i wouldnt have even got that one lol

Craftymum, nice card. Are they kimonos as others have said? Only they look like origami butterflies to me. Very oriental, whichever!

As I have not heard from Kaz to wether she recived the card I posted a week and a half ago I can only assume Royal mail has lost it so here is the card I sent herhttp://imageshack.us/a/img834/9798/003vcc.jpg

I made the card using a oriental velum card wrap and decoupage image of a geisha girl and put hat pins in her hair and wired some small seed beads for her earrings.

Oops, did I not comment on Thameside's card? That would be because I was speechless in admiration! Wow, it's awesome! (To use a word the kids seem fond of.)

Beautiful cards ladies. It's nice to see Oriental cards making a crafty comeback. I'd almost forgotten what lovely cards can be made in that style.

They are origami butterflies made out of vellum, had to practice several times before became happy with results. Enjoyed everyone though :-) thank you for your lovely comments xx

Wow, wow, wow! My HUGE amazing oriental card from Julie has arrived and it's an absolute stunner. The card front is glossy black card, there is the most gorgeous - and very expensive-looking - piece of beaded lacework at the bottom, and the picture is matted onto what looks like a kind of fabric (?? info, please, Julie!) which has a shimmery iridescent look. The Japanese lady I think has been stamped and embossed in black onto a gorgeous scenic paper.

I took a photo of it this morning but then had a major panic on, so managed to leave home without my camera or memory card, and I'm not sure I'll have another chance to post the photo until Monday so, Julie, if you have a photo, feel free to post it, otherwise I will do so on Monday (or sooner if I can.) And thank you so much for the card!
