View Full Version : Interesting thread on Shopping Telly
I know not every member here is a member of our sister forum Shopping Telly so I thought I would mention this here. there is a very interesting thread started by an former magichands on behind the scenes stuff on ideal world/ C&C. He/she is willing to answer quetions about how things are done but not personal info about presenters although there are some interesting insights.
It's here (http://forum.shoppingtelly.com/forum/showthread.php?38033-Ex-Ideal-World-Employee-Ask-away!-Anything/page4)

Looks to me like someone was bored and decided to have some fun at ST's expense. For instance in one thread he says presenters and such read the shopping forum and in another said he came across the forum by accident. It's all bunk.
Thankyou for the thread. I found it fasinating.

Only read a few of the pages as the comments were starting to get nasty and a bit personal. Struck me it was someone with a grudge (ex employee or not) who was hoping to stir up trouble.

Hrm maybe its Bartman LOL notice someone mentioned about the grusome twosome and he never replied, geez I am getting paranoid, but maybe that was before his time
If he/she is taken at face value then they were well before. Only worked there for the last year.

Thanks Janet. I thought it was a real insight into behind the scenes stuff. I don't understand why some people have to be so nasty though - never have.

I agree he/she did say they were not going into personal stuff, but you will always get those who want the dirt.
I do feel that it is odd that someone who no longer works for them has decided to join a forum and more or less defend them, I think its a sneaky ploy.lol

I also agree. He/she seem to be 'on' an awful lot answering questions. Most people come on the forum and chat for a while but he/she seem to be on for ages - answering questions or rather goading people to ask questions!! All sounds a bit dodgy to me.!!

I read it all the way through and if taken at face value it was someone who was bored and wanted to debunk a few myths because they knew the real answers.
Some got a bit nasty because they didn't get any dirt.
It's possible for people to say they read forums without naming them and therefore quite possible to come across one by chance - I know that's how found a few forums in the early days.
They did talk about behind the scene things and try to set the record straight about many of the demos.... lets be honest we've all wondered from time to time about just how genuine they are.
As for the hard sell explanation, it wasn't something I'd thought about before but it made perfect sense. Also the point about stock updates was spot on - if we don't know the number they started with 10% could be 1 or 1,000 and that's why some things seem to be in stock when we try to order them but we still miss out.
I'm trying to not be too cynical here......................... but who knows.

I asked a question about faking demos. To my mind if they give the impression that the stain they are removing is more than the day old that they freely admitted to this person was all a bissell could cope with, then the demo is fake! That or someone is telling a bit fat porky, because either way you buy the bissell to shift a year old stain and you haven't actually got a cat in hell's chance of doing so

You noticed that one too. I know when I moved to this bungalow there were a couple of areas I wanted to clean on the carpet. Even bought a proper Bissell, the cleaning stuff, etc. Could I shift the stain? Could I flip. Considering the price of the thing, I would have thought a spot of that old thing called 'truth' would have been the order of the day. Not so apparently. :(

He said that they read the shopping telly forum and then later said he found the forum by accident. But he would already have known about the forums existance in that case, so why say he found it by accident when trying to explain why he was there?
I actually don't care whether they are liars or not, my concern was Graham having more trouble to deal with. I doubt after the QVC fiasco he would also want the powers that be from Ideal World also causing a stink.
that is the only reason I made a comment.
Having worked with Ideal World about 18 months ago, I can confirm that many things he has said are 100% accurate. Unlike him, most the time, I can't be bothered with correcting false speculation, as I just don't need the hassle.

That was my concern too. Hate it when there is gossip going around - about anyone. I almost got the feeling that the intention was to cause trouble for Graham and that would be awful

For what ever reason the member has now left ST forum and Graham has closed the thread.

And a lot of the posts on the thread removed I think.
I wonder if they have been got at. I bet it isn't rocket science for someone at IW to figure out who it is.
