I think I have posted previously that I've been doing my first Crochet Along (CAL). It was the Jane Crowfoot blanket run by Stylecraft. Here is my finished blanket. I started crocheting last June and it's the most complicated thing I've done so far, but the instructions were very clear and even though I don't get a lot of crochet time in my week and some weeks, no time at all, the pace was manageable and I didn't fall too behind.

I'm going to give it to my Mother-in-Law for her birthday. It needs some more blocking to straighten it out a bit, but I'll do that nearer the time I give it to her.

It's really beautiful - well done on creating something quite complicated only 1 year after starting. Your MIL will love it.

Absolutely gorgeous. That's one skill I've yet to try and master. Your M-I-L will be over the moon with it. I know I would.

Many thanks for your kind words. I have to confess that I can't take any credit at all for the colours - I followed exactly what was recommended in the pattern.

I was trying to work out how long the blanket takes to make - the CAL was in 8 parts over 16 weeks, so it didn't feel like it was taking that much time in any one week. I think the flowers typically took me 2 to 3 hours to make and the strips a bit longer - say 3 to 4 hours, which is a total of around 82 hours or just over 5 hours a week, which was probably about right.

That is gorgeous. I have been following the CAL group of Ravelry and there are some lovely examples of the finished blanket. I wasn't sure I liked it but as the project has progressed the loveliness of it has become clear. Well done, it's a lovely item to hand over to someone.
