Finished Poppy yesterday, she is the palomino pony from Kerry Lord's Edward's Menagerie book. She hasn't been worked in the Toft wool though, but in a similar wool.

How lovely. I had a palomino pony as a child - Santa bought her the year I was 5. What possessed my parents I'll never know - I never once asked for a pony and to be honest, wasn't interested in the farm at all! I think Dad wanted a pony really as there were ponies on his farm when he was growing up. I rode her a few times and lost interest - she had a lovely long and lazy life on the farm!!

You are so talented Roz. I was going to have a go at these animals ages ago, but guess what? Haven't even bought the book! I just don't seem to find the time to craft at all. Hubby has now taken on a full allotment plot (instead of the half plot) and I have been helping with that on top of everything else i.e. my garden, the decorating etc.

If they ever need a cuddle I'll be first in the queue! My favourite is the brown one which I assume is Poppy - she really is adorable.

Poppy is the light brown one. Dynamo wasn't supposed to that dark according to the original pattern, but that was what came in the kit. Very difficult to see his eyes. :(

Dunno about the ark, it could be a wee while before I get around to making the rest. Jill who comes to the stitching group has done loads of them. She started with the rabbit, and has at least half a dozen others by now. Please note that Jill didn't have a clue on how to crochet eighteen months ago. The lady who ran the crochet group refused to teach her because she is left handed, soooo Jill set to work and taught herself. She insists on saying she did it with my help, but I didn't do a lot, just counted the stitches for her a couple of times. T'was a bit of a standing joke when she asked how much she owed. Dot looked at me, I looked at Dot, then told her that if she was paying the minimum wage then it was about three pence, or as I will insist on calling it, thruppence, as in old money. ;)

Caught a bit of the Toft show this morning. Have fallen in love with the Dulux dog but at nearly 90 quid ( club price) I dont think I will be buying!

Good gracious £90? my life, what planet is that lady on, 'specially just after C********.

I think the main factor is the wool i.e. alpaca (don't know whether that is the correct spelling). There are a couple of units down in the town that have specialist wool and believe me it is not cheap. One of them had a knitted waterfall coat/cardigan in the window just before C******** and muggins thought it was rather nice but I nearly fainted when I saw the price.

Yes, it is the alpaca wool that pushes up the price to astronomical levels, especially as it is in chunky. Of course one could make it in a cheaper alpaca mix, which is what Poppy was made from, but it is getting the patterns that is the problem. They have to be bought as part of a kit, rather than individually. Apparently when Kerry was asked about producing a book with just dog designs she said no, she couldn't come up with enough different breeds to justify a book

Dynamo was a kit by the way, cost me £18, but Poppy cost me less than a fiver for two as I used a Alpaca blend.

The little Schnauzer was so cute - we used to have three of them - lovely dogs.
