Hi Patsy
I'm sure others will have ideas but it's worth shopping round and of course it depends on the quality/weight/finish of card that you need. I've had some really good cardstock from Wilkinsons of all places, can't remember teh exact price but certainly well under £5 for either 75 or 100 sheets, I think 160gsm so it's a decent weight and quality and fine for cards, layering etc. Also the supermarkets do good ranges of white card and paper - I had some of the Morrisons glossy photocard stock which again was under £5 for 24 sheets. WH Smith have a good range of card stock though I've never actually bought any.
If you want a specific type of card then it's worth looking at teh craft suppliers online, but that is generally more expensive. Graphicus and Crafters Companion do specialist printer card stock which is more expensive, I have one of the CC packs and it is good stuff, includes some glossy card stock as well as the plain, but otherwise not that much better than the basic Wilkinsons stuff.
Anyway just my thoughts, I'm sure others will have lots of suggestions.

In my opinion you should be looking for 250gsm + for making the actual cards with. The lesser qualities bend over time especially if stood up in a hot room. Why go to all the effort of crafting a gorgeous card to have it curl down at the edges?

I had some lovely white card from Kameo cards, but a bit on the expensive side. Good for cards but a bit of a waste just for matting and layering. I usually keep that for special cards. It is lovely bright white with a sort of linen texture. I sometimes get packs of white card from a market stall (£1 for 10 sheets) to use for matting and layering. I have myself been trying to find some white card that is good for stamping onto.

i recently got some really heavy quality cardstock from paper cellar where they do the boxes and you fill them up for £5 a box i think.though the really thick stuff wasnt white but was something like 350gsm really thick.
but online i normally buy the box making card from www.bgpayne.com theres 3 weights in box card all quiet sturdy and you order it for 45p a sheet 65p a sheet and another one though the 65p stuff is the thickest ive used this for a3 and a4 sized card too its really good!!you then choose what size so say you buy the 65p sheet option you have it cut into a4 and think you get 4 sheets as the sheets are a2 before being cut.
the other place ive bought from in the past is www.pdacardandcraft.co.uk think thats right link.
i too tend to use a heavy weight cardstock for most of my cards.

If you are buying bulk, a good place to purchase from is papermill, either online or at their shops if there is one near by. They are usually about 250gsm + which I also think is the better weight for cards. 160 gsm is great for the mat and layering and printing onto.

also try www.craftcreations.com
the more you order the cheaper it gets you purchase a large sheet with the options of having it cut 1/2 1/4 a4 and a5 at no extra cost P&P was a flat rate of £3.00 per order but I think it might have gone up since I last ordered. This site has loads of diff card including pearl glitter ect you can also buy ready scored cards from 8p each but envelopes are extra also what I like is you can buy sample sets of papers and card to have try with before you do bulk order

I like Papercellar best but you have to feel the weight, your stockist seems to get what there is and looking at the Papercellar website they seem rather short on pearlised card which I think looks best for the actual card. My local craft shop limits the amount of pearlised that you can include in your box BUT I added a load of what I thought was cream and weeks later found it had a gold sheen to it:blush:
I agree that 250gsm is the premium weight for the card, but sometimes, with decoupage added, my cards can feel heavy.
I have bought from Papermill online store and recently bought a £4.99 pack of mixed card (10 pearlised for £2.50 -though limited in colours). Their prices are the same...you just pay p&p for online and delivery is quick. I did buy some fab pearlised pewter card but they no longer stock it (big mistake Papermill!). When you order on line you can select the weight, which is an excellent idea, so I ordered 300+gsm to make boxes.

It is OK if you just want to matt and layer, but not much good if you want to make a card with it! Has it got thinner cos I thought the last time I got some it didn't seem as thick?
