Just noticed that there a couple of Martha Stewart hours on the 20th Oct Craft Day, would love some of her punches :clapping:

So would I! Usually quite unaffordable so hopefully QVC will run them out at a most affordable price (plus p&p, of course:cash:)

Joanna Sheen has some but not sure of the price. I have just bought a couple of the Woodware "huge" ones. Punches out on 180 gm card, and cheaper mirriboard. They may well be a discontinued line though as most are quite hard to find.

I would love to find some border punches that are easy to use when repeat punching is needed. Hoping that the Martha Stewart ones would work but will wait for the demos.

wasnt aware that qvc usa were not showing craft any longer, in that case i bet we are just getting what they didnt sell, and the $ will just change to a £ if past prices are anything to go by

Was a huge case in the States, she went down for something like insider dealing/perjury.

Seemed to bounce back quickly enough though.

i dont wish to sound like im teaching my grandma to suck eggs BUT.have you tried putting them into the freezer for a while before using...the freezer makes the metal contract usually just enough to get a few good punches out before having to put it back in......also.......punch it through many times using greaseprrof paper & also tin foil..................fold the foil into a few layers & press flat....that sharpens them & the greaseproof 'greases' them......hope any of those tips help.........i have lots of the fiskars punches & all this punch talk is making me want to get them out again.........there was i thinking i might shove them on ebay [ just the heavy posting thats been putting me off ]

I have tried the foil and greaseproof paper remedies endless times but to no avail. I've never heard of the freezer one though. I will try that one later. Just got to remember that the punch is in the freezer though as the mind doesn't work as well as it could nowadays! :cheeky:

Oyster Stamps have a wonderful selection of Martha Stewart punches. This link is just for the edger punches http://www.oysterstamps.co.uk/acatalog/Martha_Stewart_Edger_Punch.html, there are other sections for individual and corner MS punches.. There are some really unusual ones, e.g. Turkey Dinner and Cityscape.

I fixed difficult Anna Griffin punch by turning it upside down, drowning it in wd40 and leaving it in the aring cupboard over night. You have to clean it really thoroughly afterwards though. This wa fter the foil and waxed paer tricks had failed

I have the doily lace punch and it snags up when you punch paper but handles thin card better. :cheeky: It's ok but not as good as I hoped and I tend to reach for my Fiskars threading water punch more which always gives perfect results.

I love some of the MS punches but feel a little wary of them as they are expensive and wonder sometimes if they are a little over hyped and Fiskars and EK Success (think that's the right name) are probably just as good.

Must admit I am a bit wary of punches these days but can't say I have had any pressure problems with the MS ones.

About 6 months ago I started to get really bad pains in my hand, lasted for ages and ages and eventually went to the docs. I sort of assumed arthritis but the doc decided it wasnt that. I had an xray and everything but nobody could understand how I had so much inflamed tissue.

I then went through a few months of doing hardly any crafting at all and my hand cleared up.

The penny dropped when I got out my big scalloped circle punch, the next day the pain was back !!!

Think its a big Woodware one and the pressure exerted really bruises the sort of chicken drumstick bit attached to my thumb, get hubby to do the punching now !!!

I've got a few EK success ones and can vouch for the quality they even cut through thin cardstock. Vince loves punches but the multiple packs he bought a few years ago use to stick and were very poor quality even using only thin paper...now he wants only the best !

jeanette ..........mine has gone ages ago & it wasnt that good years & years ago BUT the trick is you wont get it mixed up with the sprouts or chicken fillets....[ least i hope not ]......
i cant remember where i heard the freezer trick from BUT I have used it & it does work........i got all my inserts + spares out ready to do a massive sprinting of them........neednt have worried it coped easily.......give it a try out.youve nothing to loose..only a punch if its a chest freezer & you have kids who raid it & the darm thing goes off down to the bottom...

I'm addicted to MS punches and I've only had one dodgy one, which was the lace doily one. I'd punched a few things out and I knew that something was wrong, but I couldn't work out what. Eventually it clicked that one of the little pegs that punched out the design was missing! I'd imported the punch and paid through the nose for it, so to say that I was an unhappy bunny is an understatement.

I e-mailed EK Success direct and I didn't really expect a response, but they replaced it with no problem at all. It's fair to say that the replacement punch has been hammered and it is still going strong.

It makes me so mad when we don't get parity with the prices in the usa, Michaels the craft shop sell them and they were so much cheaper when I looked this year, but I've been on their web site and they don't list prices, but Jo Ann crafts do so you can see how much cheaper craft products are over there - so the Americans come here to sell their stuff and make a fortune...........I wonder if Martha Stewart herself will be demonstrating?

Personal Impressions are the UK distributor, they had loads of the items on their stall at the event last week. The 24 glitters are scrummy (but I'm a magpie!).

I doubt MS will be over here, doubt she'd get a visa to work in the UK with her conviction the way border security has tightened in the past 12 months.

I've decided to hunt some of the punches down at the NEC next month, it's always nice to have something to look for.

It's another example of QVC being late at the table. The range was brought out just after MS's incarceration (two or three years ago) and is now all over the mail-order sites on the web. I can only hope that some of the prices might drop as an intro or craft day offer.

Did you know SCW that Hobbycraft now does mail order?

How spooky is this just had an email update from Craft Critique featuring the Martha Stewart Halloween collection. Might give you a 'feel' for her products SCW http://www.craftcritique.com/2009/10/vendor-spotlight-ek-success-brands_17.html

They just read out my text about Anthony and the guest wearing co-ordinating jumpers!

I quite like some of the punches they have shown, the flower one in the set of two is lovely but the tiny holes in the middle are done with one in another set so I suppose it all adds up.

I'm still disappointed that there aren't more border punches. What a shame?

Anybody interested in the book should look on Amazon, it's only £11.49 with free next day delivery. That make it less than half the QVC price.

I wast that impressed with the show to be honest found it a bit stilted and thought the punches were very expesive as I am not a punch fan I dont know much about them. Just not my cup of tea to be honest

because basically they are testing the water to see how it goes and that before getting lots more stock in if its popular

I bought the loops set to punch the border and edge. I personally think that the edge punches especially are extremely popular and all the craft forums have been buzzing about them for quite a while.

I would have thought they would have sold much better than glitter and kits etc but I'm sure not everyone will agree.

I really enjoyed the show it was a pleasure to see something different.

I thought the displays laid out on the counters were lovely, so pretty and fresh looking, you could tell that someone had worked hard to get it all ready. Must admit there wasn't much room for movement though with stuff being knocked over and getting in the way.
