.... and if so, what do you think of it? They have a couple of version being shown in Craft Extravaganza, including the one with the envelope and box maker (and I make a lot of boxes and envelope shapes, so this one could be very useful for me). Any opinions:confused:

I've got it too.

Only used it once for a box for one of our swaps - can't remember who It was sent to . It was easy to use but not sure if it looked 100% it was wasn't too bad though.

I've seen it being demonstrated and it does look good. Didn't buy it because I have so many score board and cutters and I don't do all the paper pricking and parchment stuff.

I have the greetings board which is OK.
I think the actual work station is rather expensive. Did someone say on here one time, it was rather flimsy?

Thanks everyone, I'm still thinking about. Had an absolutely fabulous day out today, designer discount shopping with my BF at Bicester. Somehow 2 pairs of L K Bennett shoes, an L K Bennet dress, a Prescriptives Make-up pallet and a whole stack of Molton Brown somehow mananged to appear in the boot of my car by the end of the day, so I'm not sure that I've got any spondoolies left for a workstation ;)

As I make a lot of boxes (like over 30 this week alone), I live in perputual hope that I can find an easier way of doing it. However, I am very, very fussy about measurements and achieving professional results, and for this, it appears that there are no shortcuts!

Did you watch last night's Extravanganza Dips it was reduced to £29.99 - not sure this is good news really!

That was my reason for asking, ROC. I had seen from looking at the TV guide that this was coming up and I wanted feedback before it was shown.

I got one and sent it back. It was cheqp and nasty. The papers wouldn't stay secure to emboss them, and the paper cutter was rubbish too.

:wonder:I wasn't sure whether to post about this bargain price for the Helix Craft Room as reading here it doesn't have the best endorsements, and it's not one I have ever used

but seeing as how it has paper pricking items and a few different cutting heads, it might be of interest to others as it's currently offered for sale as a Mega Deal from Amazon for just £19-99 delivered

I have the workroom and use it everyday, in my wheelchair. I find the envelope maker easy to use and the embossing boards. I don't find it flimsy, even dropped it a few times and it is fine. The cutter is a different matter, it must be me, but I cannot get the hang of paper trimmers and I have quite a few different brands and the result is always the same - I cut the paper in the wrong place. So the MCS trimmer is no different to all the rest as far as I am concerned. Would not want to be without my workroom though.

It's not you Darwin, me and paper trimmers don't mix either. I wonder about the Helix thing, it appears to me that Steph has dropped this from her range really from £106 to £19.99 - good grief it can't have sold!

I was quite interested in the Amazon deal on the workstation but it says delivery between one and two months, that has kinda put me off.

I ordered this from them when it was first launched along with all the other bits and bobs on the show at that time (was I mad or what?) just could not get to grips with it and sent the whole lot back - so paying p&p both ways! I did feel that at the time it had been over hyped and I fell for the banter and was very disappointed. But at least I wasn't stuck with another of those white elephant buys in the back of a cupboard!

The workroom did win various awards for design, so it can't be that bad. The one element of the workroom though that I did find useless was the circle cutter. I have never been able to cut a complete circle without breaking the blade. I went through five blades on one attempt and I still didn't have a complete circle cut. So that attachment is a definite no no.

Wow they upped it, must have been popular and they've gone and upped the price and the dispatch time is terrible!!

I was umming and ahhhing over whether to go for it, but now I'm getting this message:

"Please note that the price of Helix "Craft Room" workstation MEGA DEAL including 11 items has increased from £19.99 to £26.97 since you placed it in your Shopping Basket"

and I'm pretty sure the dispatch wasn't that long when I popped it into my basket!! I'm going to give this one a miss now too

I got that and the Crafters Companion on launch. Wish I'd saved my money on the helix job - didn't work as good as stated - tried with the other boards, same happened. Week after I bought the Crafters Companion they brought out the ultimate Pro - was not a happy bunny about that!

I got the Enveloper thingy from C&C, especially to make "one off" non standard envelopes. Couldn't even make standard envelopes properly. My Hougie board is much easier to use.

I got the workstation as a gift from subscribing to a craft mag and bought the extra circle cutter and mat (as you get only a thin strip of a mat). It's ok I used it a couple of times but it's a bit bulky and always forget it's there to be used ! Absent mindedness I guess...I probably like tools too much but forget what I have ! LOL

I'm just the same with cardmaking tools Fab. Discovered the other day that I've got a Cropadile I'd totally forgotten about. Strange really as I don't usually forget when things are pink!

I'm busy going through my stash to see how may articles I've forgotten about, and my helix station was at the bottom under a pile of scrapbook papers - shows how much I've used it!!!!

Hmm been trying to think of my forgotten articles.. and remembered buying a 'circle scribe' - anyone remember those? Wanted one for ages, finally took the plunge, then had some bad news the day it arrived, so it got put away unused, and I've not used it since! That must have been around 3 years ago!

I remember those. I've got a Purple Cow circle cutter - never been used! (Only seems to cut 2 sizes)

Would that be intentionally, or when you get sick of everything and scoop it into the bin, as I have been known to do!

I have a work station and don't use it that often I brought the circle cutter to go with it and haven't cut a decent circle with it yet so no if I had the choice I wouldn't buy it (that doesn't sound right but I think you know what I mean I wouldn't buy it now lol)

Yes, and I could have saved both money and space!!! Darned Stephanie and her hard-sell!
