I have finally gotten around to updating my blog. Can't believe there was begger all on it for over 3 months! Shame on me.

Anyhow I have put 4 cards on it. Two of which were for members who did not upload pics of their birthday cards on here, I believe due to ill health, and the other two are for other friends.

Now that I have gotten around to it, I hope to blog more regularly. I am aiming for at least once a week, depending on health etc.

I should be delighted if you have the time to check it out.

I'm so thrilled. I made the Weekly Top 5 at Cupcake Craft Challenge (http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/). Unlike the main prizes which are usually randomly generated, someone actually chooses the ones they like best!

Sorry I know it's bragging and not ladylike, but I don't have anyone else to share it with who would appreciate the thrill I am feeling. I did tell my DD, but she just grunted 'that's nice Mum!'. LOL, couldn't even persuade her to go take a peek at my creation. KIDS,

PS I won it for my new baby card.

Wow you cards are always so lovely Looby, where do you find the time?

Being practically housebound with a debilitating illness helps.

It amazes me all the crafters who make copious amounts of cards/scrapbooks whilst holding down a job and raising small children, and looking after a hubby too.

Although I think that you fill your hours according to your health. If I were healthy and working I might well have much more energy in my free time and be able to produce more cards. Who knows. As it is I spend large parts of the day either laying in bed or sleeping.

A friend of mine seems to chat for hours on the phone, judging by the amount of times I try to call her and get 'the person you are calling is on the phone'; yet she produces amazing beaded creations by the handful regularly.

EDIT

Thank you for the compliment! LOL started rambling about being sick and forgot your kind words.

Could I say that you seem to me to be an inspiration to crafting and I never realised when I read the posts about you being housebound I was always totally in awe of your beautiful creations. Plus I think it is better for people to still be able to enjoy a craft as it keeps them active in a way and I am going to show this post to a young girl I have just meet at a hospital who wanted to try crafting but was told by others that bedbound people should not craft.

Keep up your beautiful work

Thank you Lauraine, what a lovely thing to say. I've come over all stupid now, lol. I am one among many on here in similar circumstances though and they in turn help keep my spirits up.

You encourage your young friend. Crafting certainly helps keep me sane. I am never happier than when I am lost colouring in an image, or picking out a colour scheme.

I know we all joke about the sickly people who phone into QVC and praise Saint Dawn for saving their lives, but all joking aside I know that crafting is a lifeline for a lot of people who would otherwise have little or no interests in their life.

When you can't get out with your friends, soon they start to drop off and you don't see them so much, you tend to only have contact with other people in a similar situation. This is why I love this forum so much. It's full of lovely people from all walks of life, some of them in a similar situation to myself, some of them working, some raising children, all of them loving crafting.

Everyone has their own personal cross to bear, being among friends makes it much lighter to carry.

Thank you Imp. I was actually a bit cheeky with the Easter sketch, because I had already seen the Magnolia blog wanted an easel card, but that sketch was just so pretty that I wanted to use it so I sneaked it for the top of the easel card and did my own thing for the bottom. You are right though, they can definitely spark your creativity.

Thank you. I know what you mean about Tilda, but even though she is strange with no mouth some of the images are just too cute and I couldn't resist them. I was amazed at how well the distress inks went with the Magnolia papers, I really do wonder if they were designed with the distress inks in mind.

What a beautiful card for your sister Looby & that stamp is wildly cute, one of the nicest stamps I've seen in that 'genre' (or whatever one calls it in the stamping world! lol)!

I meant to ask before but forgot - on that lovely little Easter card, how have you fixed on the lacey 'fence', is it just held under tension at each trapped end, or is it also glued somehow?

Yes, it is indeed the Kioshi papers, and gorgeous they are too, but then so are most things Basic Grey.

The lacey fence is glued under the mats and flicked over and glued on the back of the card, and to cover it up so the glue wouldn't stick to things through the lacey holes I backed the back of the card with another sheet of thin card so the ribbon is hidden and the glue can't stick to anything else.

Thanks for all your lovely comments too.

I have been very remiss with my blog of late, what with the diabetes etc. Today I finally got around to adding 5 new posts to it.

The first is my Sister's silver wedding cards which can be found here
(http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/month-since-i-posted.html)
BIL birthday cards which can be found here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/brother-in-laws-birthday-cards.html)

My Friend's Daughter's birthday card here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/two-down-three-to-go.html)

My favourite post of the lot cos it has a Charlie Bear in it, Rodley's Artistic Creation can be found here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/rodley-very-clever-panda.html)

and last but not least my Daughter has just got engaged, and the card I made for her and her intended is here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/and-finally-well-for-today-anyway.html)

I hope you enjoy.

I can finally find myself a challenge or two I hope. Although I do have the dentist on Monday and I so hate the bliddy dentist.

Whilst I was posting my Sister's anniversary cards I suddenly realised that it must be a year or so since I started my blog. I somehow managed to completely miss it's first birthday on 30th April. Duffus!

So glad you've posted the cards Lobby. They're all gorgeous. Congrats to your daughter.

You mentioned that you had some problems with the Marianne dies and that you wouldn't be bothering with them again. I've got a flourish one which works well, but a butterfly one isn't too good at cutting cleanly. I'd be interested to know what others think of them!

Although I do have the dentist on Monday and I so hate the bliddy dentist.

So do I!!! I'm as tough as old boots when it comes to anything medical (practice making perfect and all that, lol!) but, as I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before, really hate going to the dentist. For a start, the anaesthetic never seems to work on me, and do I really need 8 fillings every 6 months??? And what's the point of having the damn things filled if you can still get decay underneath, necessitating having said filling whipped out for another nice session of deep drilling on the unanaesthetised nerve?!?! At the moment my teeth look nice, and obviously I don't want to finish up with teeth like Stone Henge, but - for now - me and the Dentist are on a break... :mysmilie_518: Hope you get on OK and don't need too much done xx

Thank you all for your lovely comments.

Yes Imp I am aiming for a much slimmer me in the wedding pics. When she said they were not gonna get married until next June, I was even more determined to shift this weight so I wont look like some fat old bag in these pics, like I did in the last ones. Mind you they don't really matter as she consigned her wedding pics to him to the bin!

I did make her a scrapbook of their wedding and she has kept that but I know she only did that because of the hard work I put into it, rather than out of any sense of sentimentality.

Victoria I have found exactly the same, couldn't get the butterfly to cut cleanly no matter what I did, and the frame that came with the flourishes I also find difficult but the little flourishes themselves are okay.

My latest post is here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/get-well-soon.html).......... and kitten this one doesn't look complete to me at all, lol, but then it was for a blokey bloke and my Daughter thought he would prefer plain.

Aaaah, I think that's lovely Looby! Agree, blokes cards are much harder to embellish!! xx

I really admire the Magnolia style of crafting that a lot of you talented peeps on here do, where you manage to combine lots of elements within a card (stamped focal image, flowers, pins, leaves, papers, trims etc), but make it work. I've been trying to emulate it lately but it never seems to work for me - always ends up looking busy, and I"m happier with my card when I take something away!! Have now come to accept that perhaps that style just isn't me, not my forte or whatever, so have reverted to my usual cleaner style of crafting which I seem to be better at!! Am always fascinated by cards where there's so much detail, though, all miniature works of art

My newest card is here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/05/soft-summer-shades.html)

The background paper used must really catch my eye as I noticed I used it a little while ago with the beanstalk card and one of E's birthday cards. I have digital scrapbook paper coming out of my ears and yet I always lean back towards my favourite paper company's creations, Basic Grey. I just love their style and it's rare that they make a pad I don't like, although I didn't like Indian Summer and wished I hadn't bought it. I guess I can always do a Sheena and spritz and ink it into a different colour/design.

That's beautiful, Looby, really sweet! I've started using those sketches lately, I think they're a great idea and a good way of inspiring you to try different layouts. Agree with you about Basicgrey, their stuff is really lovely. Another current favourite of mine is My Mind's Eye, think they do some gorgeous papers and many of them have a beautiful texture. Like Bo Bunny, too, and DCWV, although a lot of their ranges over the last couple of years haven't excited me quite as much as their stuff used to. Quite like Kaisercraft as well. Two more....... the first one (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/06/biggest-challenge-ever.html) you can see I went a bit mental with the challenges - so I had too much time on my hands on Sunday, so sue me, lol

The second one (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/06/by-skin-of-my-teeth.html), only one challenge and fired off in a tearing hurry. Sadly I have learned a much better way to merge images since I did that and could have done something much fancier, but I am sure I can use my new skill in the future instead.

Both of them are using Mo Manning digis and in both I have combined more than one stamp. The veggies one I was lucky enough to have drawn out by the random number thingy and got a new Mo digi as a prize......... and it will be appearing shortly also on my blog!

I got a lovely email from Mo when she mailed me my stamp, sharing a funny story about veggies.

Lovely cards Looby, all the elements of your cards always work so perfectly together - always very 'harmonious'  Well done on your prize, too  xx

Two more....... the first one (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/06/biggest-challenge-ever.html) you can see I went a bit mental with the challenges - so I had too much time on my hands on Sunday, so sue me, lol

Wow, that's really beautiful Looby. The colours, the colouring, the image, the embellishments, love it all!! :clapping:

The second one (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/06/by-skin-of-my-teeth.html), only one challenge and fired off in a tearing hurry. Sadly I have learned a much better way to merge images since I did that and could have done something much fancier, but I am sure I can use my new skill in the future instead.

Another lovely one. Such a cute image and love those Basicgrey papers  xx

Imp, your lovely comments always leave me glowing with pride. Thank you!

It's so nice to have them appreciated, my Daughter gets sick of my showing them to her and just nods and grunts something vaguely complimentary and I find myself thinking she would prefer me to not keep showing her my boring stuff, lol

What a lovely thing to say Looby, and you're most welcome  I really love your style of crafting, your cards always seem very well thought out, with all the colours and elements perfectly co-ordinated. I know what you mean, I think those closest to creative people can end up taking their talent for granted. I am very fortunate as my hubby always shows an interest, but I've often seen my friend showing her creations to her husband and he just grunts - makes me cringe!! xx

Lovely cards Looby, I can't believe how many challenges you go in for, you are definitely the 'challenge queen'! lol
How do you find out about them all or are they regular ones you've been participating in for ages?
I love all the cards, such pretty colours you always use but I think I like the bear card especially & those stylised Kanban tree stamps are a perfect match for him & his flowers! :cool2:
The Mad Hatter challenge was a good one, what a great idea for a challenge!

I'm going to go through the house & see what pencils I can find Looby - I know DD has a huge (though well used now!) set of Prismalos & also a large cased set of virtually unused Derwent Studios......!
I haven't coloured with pencils for years, will have to dig 'em all out!

I spot the challenges linked on other blogs etc. It's a great way to see different styles and certainly prompts the juices to flow. The reason I like lots of challenges it actually keeps my brain firing on a few cylinders trying to keep up with it all, plus, of course, the chance of a nice gift if your name get's drawn. Lastly, one would hope that one's blog is not sitting in the ether with no one having a look at it, otherwise what would be the point. So hopefully someone who also posted on a challenge blog might find mine too and come and have a look. I know I have ended up following lots of blogs because I linked from a challenge to that person's personal blog.

As for the pencils. Think I am gonna stick with mine for a while as I am way better with them than I am with promarkers. I had been feeling quite 'outclassed' with other work I had seen, but feel more on an even par with my pencils.

I do hope budgie liked her fairy house. I did consider doing the obvious and making a birdhouse card, but I just couldn't find a birdhouse image I really liked enough.

I haven't just done those cards this last week. The CCM one for example was prepared the first week when I got picked. I figured it was safer to get it done early in case I had a bad ME moment. The Molly Harrisons were over the weekend, and the fairy was the day I posted it.

I just realised I haven't updated this thread for a while, although I know some of your lovely folks have been popping over and leaving me comments on my blog anyway. Thank you all.

Here are my latest posts in reverse order, oldest first is a zig zag card, which I had huge fun with here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/07/three-sketches-11-challenges-one-card.html)

A couple of weeks ago's Crafty Cardmakers challenge card here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/07/crafty-cardmakers-26-joys-recipe.html)

Summer themed card here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-scream-you-scream-we-all-scream.html)

A card I made to celebrate Crafty Cardmakers' first birthday here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/08/crafty-cardmakers-first-birthday.html)

A bit of fun I had with some digis here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/08/cute-lil-faeries.html)

And my most recent post which involves a couple of stamps from a company close to Phree's heart here (http://twisted-witch.blogspot.com/2010/08/spotlight-on-spotlights.html)

Sorry to bombard you with so much at once, but what with making the DT cards, hospital and drs appointments, commenting on challenge posts on the CCM blog and just life in general I didn't realise I hadn't posted for ages.

I would be thrilled to see any of you join in any of the challenges at Crafty Cardmakers and you never know, you might win something!

Thank you ladies. In answer to the embossing question (it was on my blog post, tsk, tsk, LOL) tis okay I know we can't all spend hours reading other folks' blogs.

It's one of the new Marianne Cut and Emboss dies, and I got mine from Cuddly Buddly as they were the best price online that I could find. The outside edge to it has been punched with MS PAPs though, but the bit inside the layered arches is all Marianne. I think they were designed to go with decoupage, but heck why could the decoupers have all the fun.

Granny Penny
23-02-2011, 01:19 PM
Thanks Looby. My only excuse is that while I am popping in here, etc., I am supposed to be listing books so I tend to skim a bit. Listing books can be quite boring, although an interesting one can thoroughly absorbing, so having the craft on (rather more radio than TV) just makes the day go more smoothly. The drawback to that is that I need to "chat" about what is on!

I did think it might be the Marianne die but I prefer how you have used it to their sample.

Granny P. Do you know I haven't a clue, but if you were a follower you would have all the blogs you follow come up in your dashboard. You would still need to scroll through the various blogs though. There may be a way to subscribe to a thread (post) but as far as I know the dashboard is the only way to keep up to date with various blogs and their posts. Short, of course, of just clicking on the main blog url and seeing if there is anything new.

Hi Looby, just got around to catching up with your blog. Usual selection of gorgeousess, you seem to have been using loads of different techniques, but I particularly loved these two:

1619

1620

I think cards look fab run through the sewing machine. Like you, I tend to stitch everything by hand. Haven't used a sewing machine since I was at school, remember having no aptitude whatsoever for it at the time. Reading about your frustrations with the needle breaking, it jamming etc brought it all back! Had toyed with getting a little basic one, as was hoping they might have improved them...?? Anyway, the card is beautiful, love the style of it. Thought the one with the 2 tortoises was gorgeous, that stamp must be a hot contender for the cutest ever!! Loved the P is for Pearls one, too. Your ability to put colours together is incredible xx

I love your cards Looby, i scrolled down to one card where you'd layered one digi image over another, the faerie, and used watercolour pencils to colour it, it looks amazing !! you're so talented at watercolouring, and with promarkers too ! :)

Incredible selection, as ever, when do you eat and sleep?!?!  You're like a one woman production line of endless exquisite creations! Think the Butterscotch Fairy has to be my very favourite, the brown and orange look fantastic together, but so many brilliant ones :happy:xx
PS Gorgeous dog pics, too!

Fab cards Looby, as always!

I particularly like the pink fairy one in the first lot (which is amazing as I am not keen on fairies in any shape or form usually! lol & the lovely box & wedding teddies one from the last lot, though, as I say, they're all wonderfully different & original!
