I have been looking at the Wizard but am confused over the various mats?
1. Is the 'universal cutting mat' in 'raspberry' the same as the 'blue' & 'black' mats or are these something else entirely & if different, would I need one of each as well as the 'raspberry cutting mat'? (Am confused as these are not included with the Wizard, only the 'raspberry' one.)
2. Is a 'tan embossing pad' the same as a 'tan embossing mat'?

*hurls fistful of 'tan embossing mats/pads' after the retreating batty one.....!* :giggle:
At least, come back & tell me why I should do that Vamps.....!:confused2:

1. It might be kinder to your joints not to have to crank a handle
2. You like electronic things anyway
3. It works with nesties etc
4 It will set you up nicely to start yearning for a craft robo.
5.Because (just because, simpers like Caroline Quentin then barfs) I have one.

OK Vamps, so:
How do I cut using a Spellbinders Die Template in the Big Shot™ by Ellison-Sizzix® and Big Shot™ for Stampin'Up! by Sizzix™? Create a sandwich laying #1 on the bottom and stacking the rest of the elements in order:
1. Large platform with all tabs closed
2. Spellbinders die template, cutting ridges up
3. Paper or cardstock
4. Two Big Shot™ acrylic mats
Roll through the Big Shot™ machine. For added detail, emboss or turn die template over and stencil with colorant of choice.
How do I emboss using a Spellbinders Die Template in the Big Shot™ by Ellison-Sizzix® and Big Shot™ for Stampin'Up! by Sizzix™?
1. Multi-purpose platform
2. Spellbinders Die Template, paper still in die
3. Two Spellbinders Tan Embossing Mats
4. Cardstock shim (one piece of 12x6" cardstock, tri-folded)
5. One Big Shot™ acrylic plate
Roll through the Big Shot™ machine. For added detail, turn die template over and stencil with colorant of choice.
So would these 'recipes' apply to the motorised Express also &......
......is the large platform the same as the essentials platform sold with the Express &.........is the multi purpose platform mentioned (the one available separately) used for all the Sizzix machines, i.e. Bigshot, BigKick and Express?
OMG, how complicated can this be? Apparently you need a degree in astrophysics or something to do crafting.........!
(I thought I was intelligent, gawd knows how the stupid people manage.......! lol)

It comes with the essentials platform and needs the adaptor plate and I got one of the texturising kits with its mat. It will be on qvc this month sometime. I love mine although some dies (might be a cuttlebug one) did need an extra shim. I don't use the spellbinders mats as I can't stand latex, it creeps me out.
Stupid people do fine, intelligence often complicates things and is at times an overrated commodity.

Whaaaaat? Latex? Oh, pants, you're kidding? I'm not allergic to latex, (amazingly enough!) but I hate the feel of it & usually avoid it like the plague! Oh.....poo......! Back to square one then! :(
(I take it the Sizzix mats aren't latex then?)

Sizzix are silicon and there is afaik latex free special mats from spellbinders. Latex - the smell, texture oh yuck yuck.

Don't know if this will be of much help to you KWC as I haven't done anything fancy with it, just cutting and embossing, but I've got the Raspberry Wizard machine which comes complete with:
Two White Master Cut Mats
Magnetic Spacer Mat
Tan Embossing Pad
Sizzix Original Cut Mat
- and the only other thing I've had to buy in the way of mats/pads so far is the Charm Embossing Kit which includes the Blue Mat to use with the Cuttlebug embossing folders.
HTH :thinking::thinking::thinking:

Oh thanks PP, maybe I will have to just put up with the *shudder* feel of the latex mats then (& maybe replace them if I like using the thing?), as I do like the sound of the Wizard?
(If i'm truthful, it looks the simplest to use & OH said he will help me if I can't manage a manual system! I like the Sizzix too though but it does look a lot more complicated, with much more involved sandwich 'recipes'?)
I only want to cut stuff & try a bit of embossing, nothing fancy to start with - if the Bigshot Express turned up on EZ Pay on QVC, I might be swayed by that though! lol

I find the sandwiches very simple to follow ... I can't cope with complicated stuff and there seems to be so many more complicated combinations for the other machines  but I do find it can be quite hard work with my various dodgy joints :whew: so I don't have marathon sessions with it! I want to find some sort of double sided non-slip mat to sit it on which I'm sure would make it a lot easier.
Can't remember it's name now but there was supposed to be an electric version of the Wizard coming out last year which I was waiting to get, it never made an appearance so I got fed-up and bought the manual one! haven't heard any mention of it since, thinking about it :wonder:
... I do think it would be easier to have one that does the work for you
p.s. have you had a look at the Spellbinders' website:
