Sorry to hear this and they are difficult cards to make. I think you have some JS cds so how about a nice image of a flower such as a lily, maybe something white or cream. I always tend to use 'Thinking Of You' rather than 'With Sympathy' but that is just personal choice. I would keep it simple with maybe cream or green ribbon if using a flower image. HTH x

I agree there will always be something suitable on a JS CD for these kind of cards. I think printing on vellum can give it a very tasteful look. I have to agree with IB regarding "Thinking of You", I think it sounds much more human and warm than a rather stiff and formal "with sympathy" sentiement.

That's lovely Jan.

The colours are soft and the whole card is totally appropriate for the occasion.

Well done you!

Kind regards,
Beth.

Thanks for your comments everyone I have just emailed a pic to hubby at work and he approves LOL
on a lighter note although death is not realy a light topic, my Mum has said that when she as she puts it shuffles off her mortal coil, she does not want lillies(even though that is her name) as they remind her of death bless her.

Jan, the card is perfect. How you managed to make it at such short notice, I don't know, but it's beautiful.

Lovely card Jan. Never an easy card to make. If I have to do one and know the recipient's taste in flowers I will find something - usually Joanna Sheen - with that flower.

worth knowing for the future that JS's Victorian Companion CD set has some good images of flowers in cross shapes. Not to everyone's taste though!

think it is Victorian Companion, might be Cardmakers Year

It is a beautiful card LJ. Just right in my opinion.

I like cream for sympathy cards. I bought a small book of decoupage just for the job a few years ago. It has lots of flowers in muted colours, and also some praying hands. I like to make the card appropriate, so if they are religious, I go for crosses, and the praying hand types, and flower ones for other people. If I am not sure I play safe and go with flowers. I usually go for a very simple card, with the decoupage matted with just a tiny black or dark chocolate brown border showing. I too prefer 'Thinking of You'.
