How wonderful! I am not really a CD crafter, but I could really get into a Thomas Kinkaid CD - how does she manage to get all these fantastic artists?

I can't see anything on Joanna Sheen's forum about it, so will you provide a link please Snow?

mm sorry I have seen his pictures on QVC, they have a rather unflattering name for his stuff on st.com - Thomas Kinkade "Painter of Light" erm replace light with a ruder word that rhymes, you never know though Joanna managed to make me like some of the Giordano pics and I never thought that would happen lol

I think that this is going to be one of those Marmite CDs, you'll either love it or hate it! Have to say that Thomas Kinkade is not to my taste, but as I'm brassic at the mo, that's no bad thing

Hmmm, I thought the current Christmas cd was a bit Kinkadey. A bit schmaltzy for me.

Then again, I did not like Messy Rabbit at all, bought the cd roms and am enjoying using them.

Really don't know whether I will like this one or not and I believe it is a triple cd so quite expensive if you are not sure about it. Joanna always puts up videos of the cd and of samples made using it before it airs so that will be a great help in deciding about this one. I've often been tempted with Thomas Kinkade stamps so might like the cd when I see what's on it, but until then I'm sitting firmly on the fence.

One of the big online crafting outlets has been selling off Kinkade stamps and they are no longer going to be made. There are two sorts as far as I can tell - the cutsy Giordano type ones and the Thomas Kinkade misty watercolours. I like some of the misty watercolour ones - not enough to hang one on my wall though!

I agree craftycat, as stamps for cards they could work quite well, like you I wouldn't want one of his bloomin' over-sugary, sickly sweet 'American idea of English country life/cottages' (no offense Rembrandt! lol) hanging on my wall though, no way! Bleurgh!

Not even sure I would want to get a card with an image on either but I know a lot of folks who would think they were the bees knees - especially if they were done as a "boing" style squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeee card. Double Bleurgh!!!!!

Sorry Tina if you are reading, gather from Joanna's forum that you like Kincade paintings.

me too auntie, I can actually say I too think they are vile, but as Alice says they are Marmite (and I love that) lol, but loads of peeps adore them.

then again I adore Doug Hyde...http://www.doughyde.com/ - did you know he is the most popular artist in Britain, I have one in the bedroom, but event the prints are v expensive! I always think they would make great decoupage.

I'm afraid my taste in art tends to stop after the Preraphaelites although I'm genuinely interested in modern art as I studied some for my degree. The more I think about the Kincade paintings the more I think BLUERGH! And I hate marmite, couldn't even watch the TV ad :<

My fav artist is Josephine Wall. Wonderful fantasy pictures with lots and lots of hidden content. The more you look the more you see. http://www.josephinewall.co.uk/

1nd fav is Philip Dunn. He specialises in pictures of Brighton (where I used to live). I have prints of several of his pictures. 1 in particular is special for me. reminds me of what I'm missing - NO. Its a cold wet windy winter day with a couple walking along Brighton seafront. Its called 'A dirty weekend'. http://www.windowgallery.co.uk/dunn.html?room=1

WHAT????? :mysmilie_466:
Do you mean to tell me that you don't ALL live like that????? LOL
Although I do like SOME Kinkaid, I do agree that some of his work can be a bit.....much
for the lack of a better term! Instead of investing in a Kinkaid CD Rom, I think I will
probably go after Joanna's "Cottage Garden". I admit to drooling over that one for quite a while...and since it's put out by an English crafter who just happens to LIVE
in a little English cottage...well, it's GOT to be right...right??

By the way...I've always thought that Marmite sounded absolutely VILE! Especially after watching the Mr. Bean episode where he runs out of pretzles and uses little twigs off his tree dipped in Marmite.

I too find his work

'over-sugary, sickly sweet 'American idea of English country life/cottages'

almost as if he has old black & white pictures from 1932, read a few fairy stories and put the two together and coloured in; then added just 1% out of focus to finish the look; but if he floats your boat who am I to argue, back to the marmite factor :D

Yes yes, of course we do Rembrandt & if you go to older cities like Oxford etc., you'll be tripping over cobblestones/ladies in crinolines/four-in-hand-carriages etc......mind you don't step in the horse poop when crossing the road......! LOL

I haven't got the CD myself but seems like a good choice Remrandt - if you like a bit of 'Englishness' in your card making, the 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' could also be worth a look, doesn't come much more 'English countryside' than that!

Oh I could take loads of pics from my window and pop them on a cd if you like LOL I could call it a diary of a country midget
daughter took a fantasic pic of the hay rolls in the fields, she too it at an angle with the sun casting huge shadow across the field, looks amazing, think she is going.to enlarge it and frame it for her study, she saw something similar in art shop for £350 without a frame.

Your money would be well spent with Cottage Garden, Rembrant.

I'm with you Craftycat. I love Preraphaelites, Dulac and 1920's storybook images.

 oh Vampy I'd forgotten about his bad behaviour, my Sis lives in Sacramento hope she never meets him! I think the description of "illumination drenched" about his pictures is very good.

I honestly find him disgusting. I was quite prepared to accept the media could be exaggerating but it seems not to be the case and his business practices are unpleasant too. I saw him on qvc, briefly, as I think he was pulled off air for being seriously weirded out.

That must've been a one-off Vamps, as in all the years I've watched QVC I don't ever recall him being on air personally - mind you, I never used to actually watch the shows of course........except to point & mock.....! lol

One can usually find something nice to say about almost anybody but not this time, he really does come across as a seriously weird, pompous, megalomaniacal twat of the highest (or should that be lowest? lol) order! Ugh!

It was shortly after his unsavoury incidents a few years ago and got the mother of all build ups. First there was his representative on earth (some bloke), then about 10 minutes of the man who appeared slightly wild eyed and not exactly connecting to his environment and then back to smarmy bloke.

Can't make up my mind about his paintings although his unsavoury behaviour tends to put me off them, I can see other people liking them though so may be tempted to buy the cds, I wish Joanna would do a cd of Pollyanna Pickering paintings, that's one cd I would be queueing up to buy, just love her paintings, I also like Stephen Gayford paintings and David Shepherd paintings, can you see a theme here? I only ever look at animal paintings, the only paintings I have up at home are of German Shepherds, I do have a line drawing of a horse that was done especially(sp) for me and one of some bunnies that my ex mother-in-law gave me years ago but neither of them are on the walls at the moment.

This makes me both sad and absolutely furious! I happen to be a Christian, and I have SO had it with these hypocritical idiots who do nothing
but give true believers a bad name!! Guess I will have nothing to do with any of HIS artwork ever again, THAT'S for sure!!! Thanks for the link,
I very much appreciate it!!
