View Full Version : Cricut machines plugs. Help
My Gypsy bought in November arrived with the car charger etc but the power cable had a round 2pin plug and a flat 2pin (with a hole in each pin) alternative plug.
Luckily I had a plug adapter at home and used it with the 2pin round plug, but wondered why there was no 3pin UK plug. Did nothing about it as I was able to use the machine with my Create and the adapter I had.
Just received my Expression and the only power cable included had the flat 2pin plug!!! (with a hole in each pin), no UK plug!! so what was all that about when IW kept plugging (excuse the pun) that a machine bought from them would have a UK power cables and plugs??!!
Phoned the the helpline on the box- a helpful lady at first suggested I contact IW CS!SHOCK!HORROR!, I explained why I would not do this. She took my address and email and promised to contact Provocraft and get the problem sorted. Waiting and hoping.
Have your machines bought from IW had the right plugs? Would really like to hear.

If you go to the Create and Craft/Ideal World thread you will get the email address for Gareth Parker, e mail him direct as he promises to sort of customer problems. I did get my gypsy from Create and Craft and the charger supplied is a uk one. Cannot speak for the expression as I got that from Pinnacle Crafts online but they are a uk supplier and it came with uk power lead. I am sure that when selling the expression Create and Craft banged on about if you ordered from america you wouldnt get the correct power cables suitable for uk voltage and that this would invalidate your warranty so get onto Gareth and get him to sort it asap. After all, they are an authorised UK retailer so their stock should be for the UK market, not europe or america.
Thank you Morgana- will do what you suggested.

Maybe I don't express myself or explain things clearly, I certainly am not experienced in the "forums speak" language and I tend to hold back from posting because of this, but I do read the posts daily and feel part of CT's lovely family.
I am really trying to find if any of you on this forum have bought the Expression from IW and found they did not have the right UK plug on the power cable, or is it just my machine.
I would love to hear from you. I have emailed Gareth Parker and he has responded to my email. He is looking into this.
I will post the result of this in case someone else is in the same situation.

I have not bought this machine from C&C, but think that I saw someone on another forum complaining about the same thing. Unfortunately I cannot find the post so not sure if I'm right.

Nothing to do with Cricut or C & C but when we purchased our first printer which came from Argos, we got it home, unpacked put the installation disc in and found out it was all in French, even the written paper work, we hotfooted it back to Argos and got the replacement disc and paper work. It was a Lexmark.

I think you will need to get in touch with C&C and get a replacement.

I have emailed I W (Gareth Parker)- he is looking into it. I have also phoned and emailed the European Cricut help line- they too are looking into it ! I will NOT phone I W's customer service as I value my health too much !!!
Meanwhile, I am waiting for a UK plug- why should I have to fork out for an adapter?
Will post updates.
Thanks for all your responses and advice.

don't blame you Viv - this would've taken quite some explaining to the Indian Call Centre and you would have just ended up even more cross, I think it's disgusting that they send you the Cricut with the wrong plug!
Thank you button not working.
Thanks Rentochops. I am in limbo, dont know what to do next. Just waiting.

The European call centre is good. I had a problem with my Gypsy and they passed my phone number onto the USA, who rang me and sorted it out - they seem really keen to keep us happy with our Cricuts so I am sure you will get a result from them :)
I did have a call back from the European customer Service which was comforting. They are taking steps to sort this out. I did point out to the very nice man I spoke to that we do not have much joy from IW's and C&C's customer service centre and told him that when the presenters kept stressing that there was a European help line I was encouraged by this to purchase the Cricut from them.
As a matter of fact my Gypsy bought in Nov. did not have a 3-pin power cable either but I let this go what with Christmas round the corner and the business of this period I did nothing about it.

Viv, if I were you I would also be requesting the correct power lead for your gypsy as well.
Hope it all gets sorted for you soon.
Jacqui
Thanks Jacqui,I have done.
Update: I had an email from Gareth asking me to clarify the situation regarding the needed UK 3-pin plug for the Expression and also for the Gypsy. I emailed him back with the required info.
He responded saying he was in contact with the warehouse and buyers and will get back to me.
Shortly after he phoned to say that he put the required cables in the post and as he had missed today collection I should have them the day after tomorrow. He asked to let him know when I receive them.
I am over the moon, to actually have someone listen, respond and act to provide the help needed is priceless.
Gareth was patient as I gave him a lengthy account, efficient and reassuring. So, I hope I have restored faith in the system as faith has been restored to me.
THANK YOU Gareth.

They've got that one the wrong way round, the heading is correct but description is wrong. It should be transforming to UK voltage from USA. On the other hand, of course, it should have come with the correct plug in the first place!
