Feeling inspired after looking at Alwayscraftings gorgeous bear paintings I thought I'd upload some of my pastel & oil paintings. I haven't painted for a couple of years as life stuff as got in the way. And as I've got older I've got more impatient and I like the instant gratification of cardmaking, but painting is my first love.
The two portraits are of my son when he was younger and my lovely Nan who is no longer here. I love painting people followed by animals!

Absolutely glorious paintings Ephemera, you really are extremely talented! :cool2:

p.s. Were you not tempted to change that incredibly hard to paint stripey t-shirt into a plain red one in the one of your son.....? LOL
(Looks fab though, most impressive!)

What talent! It amazes me that so many people have these hidden skills. Very, very beautiful and you must be thrilled to have the one of your Nan.

Thanks Kitten,

Yes I remember getting very bored with the t-shirt and rushing it to get finished! Love painting faces and features, but then the enthusiasm goes a bit!

Thanks Granny Penny,

I painted the portrait of my Nan for my Mum after she'd died, wearing one of her many necklaces a trait I've inherited from her, (collecting jewellery) LOL. My Nan was a fab knitter and brilliant at crochet. I remember these gorgeous ponchos she made for my sister and I in the seventies!!

Wow such talent,I can't even do a stamped image let alone paint,I am always in awe when I look at the details in paintings and drawings.I have a retired couple next door, and the man does fantatic drawings they look like photos they are hung all over the house, when I said that he should try and sell some , he was in disbelief that they were good enough.

Thanks Guys,

I always loved drawing at school but struggled with the painting side as I always liked the security of being able to rub out! That is why I tried soft pastels I first started with pastel pencils, then the sticks and found I could rub out some of my mistakes and the layering up of colour is just like promarkers/copics. It is messy but very forgiving, so is oil painting just wipe away your mistakes. But watercolours I really find difficult as you can't hide any mistakes!

I'm in awe of all you knitters and crocheters I find that really hard my Mum taught me to knit countless times and I still can't :headbang:
