Well, as promised, it’s Sunday and here are the pictures of my amazing birthday cards

I’m going to post them up in the order that I opened them, for those of you not in the swaps, it is the most totally amazing way to spend some of your birthday

So the first batch

This was the 1st card I opened; it’s from Kitten and is just A1; Kitten, did the glitter card come like that, if not how did you colour it?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image1Kitten.jpg

This came in a padded bag,(from Victoria) as you can see I got not only a card but a beautiful box too, and the pink & black work beautifully together, and I adore the roses
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image2Victoria.jpg

My daffodils came from Macey, and there are more inside, it’s a lovely elegant card, and I’m a daffi fan, always remind me of my Nana
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image3macey.jpg

This must have been painful for Little Jan, with the loss of her wee blue-tit family, I thought of you instantly I opened it, and then to find it was from you *blows wee kiss* it’s a gorgeous elegant card

Next; from Lothian Crafts, this brilliant la Pache card, and isn’t it very true of most of us dieting together, that wee treat hidden behind something
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image5aLothian.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image5b.jpg

next is my card from Welly, the flowers are brilliant, the top & bottom are glittered, great use of your cuttlebug , it’s a really simile card
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image6Welly.jpg

Wins, when did you find my photo album? I remember when I had a waist and wore a not dissimilar outfit, she’s brilliant, and the red/black combo really works, red is a colour that frightens me, a little less now then last week

This is from spendloads I’ve photographed this one differently, to show it at best effect, the colours are perfect together, and it’s full of gems and quietly 3d’d and the foiling is copper, I think I’ll put some of the same in my basket next time I go to Wins shopping
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image8Spendloads-1.jpg

This delightful decoupage is from Suban
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image9suban.jpg

This Barbara Grey inspired beauty is from LynneH, it came with a letter of apology that it was a Scotland card rather than a birthday card *slap* it is a stunning piece, the water and castle reflection are amazing
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image10Lynne.jpg

this card is from Tru-ella, and is not quite as simple as it looks, with beads as the stamen of the flower, and the colours are just great, I remember having a frock when I was 5 in just those colours, I remember feeling so grown-up
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image11tru-ella.jpg

This very Asian looking beauty is from JSC, my photo doesn’t show it’s gentle sparkle
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image12JSC.jpg

Now this brilliant card matches the sender’s name, it’s from Ephemera, elegant, and another amazing card

This delicate gem if from Agelesscraft, it even came in its own handmade envelope, which does have an effect
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image15Agelesscraft.jpg

this very elegant lady is from Maisie, the dress has added glitter and the great hall has been iridescently varnished
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image16maisie.jpg

this cutie is from Angie, the wee tag on the front says “you make me smile” well the card gave me a big smile, and the wee bouquet is stunning, I want some, and it is perfectly coloured
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image17Angie.jpg

the last in this post is from Rainbowwand; again exquisite colours, with gentle glittering details and just brill

The last lot

The 1st of which is from Marzi; this is another card that real life is much, much better than photo, the photo looses the very delicate colouring in the jam, and totally looses the sparkle from the handmade paper, with the curtains drawn and the fire lit it glittered at us in it’s own firework display
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image19Marzi.jpg

the next is from Joanne, I’d seen those frames (QVC) and thought*shrug* but they are great they really work well
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image20Joanne.jpg

this is from Satincollie, the backing paper, where from please, and the stamping and colouring are amazing, I will use it as an example for my colouring in (I really do have to try more stamping) and it all works perfectly together
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image21satincollie.jpg

And last but not least, this heavenly creature from Looby Lou, another I want backing paper, the blue is all flittered and the butterfly leaves a trail too
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/Millburn/2011%20birthday/Image22looby.jpg

Thank you all, you helped make my day

Stunning cards! I don't have the time to join the card swaps and having seen these I'm glad I'm not part of one - I'd never be able to make a card to come anywhere near this stand. Well done all of you.

Belated Happy Birthday Millburn.

They are all lovely, well done ladies! It's my birthday next month and I'm beginning to wish I was in the swap just for the thrill of receiving a card/cards that I would know someone had put time and thought into. You must be thrilled with them Millburn. Bet you never want to take them down.

Belated Happy Birthday Millburn.

This was my first birthday swap PP and I didn't join before for the same reason - I wasn't sure I would be good enough but the thing I realised is it's not about that. It is actually very liberating, after all the person you are sending it to is a crafter too. I really hope others join in the swaps.

Lorraine with Hannah's 18th the day after mine you had more than enough to think about, I'll post a picture as soon as it arrives

PP you would make cards that the rest in the swap would be thrilled with, it is; I think I can say this for all in the swaps, about 2 things,
the thrill of making a card for a card maker, knowing they will look at it totally differently than most people, we all know even a "simple" card can take a great deal of making, finding the right colours and papers, and we all have different skills and loves when we make a card; actually holding a card made in ways I would never have thought of is slowly expanding what I do, and pushing me just an idea why not join some of the monthly swaps and see how that feels :D

and secondly the thrill and selfish pleasure of all those cards made just for you to open on your birthday  and all the time they've taken to make, I mean most of us women come pretty far down our own list of things and people to look after, and there is a lot of other people's thinking of me in my sitting room right now  which is a pretty special feeling.

Sam; same idea, why not join in a monthly swap or two, it's nice to have to make a card to an idea, and if the brain doesn't work you can always just pick your own theme

Same here Penny, I was quite nervous about joining the swap, but think they are such a fab idea and can't wait till my birthday, well yes I can actually as its in January, the card swap will brighten a gloomy month.

Hope you had a great birthday Christine and thanks for uploading the photos, the cards are so lovely, individual and all so different.

I haven't managed to get around to this section of the site for a couple of months, which is a shame as it's def one of my favourites. What a beautiful selection, Millburn, I got such bad deja vu looking at the pics and reading your descriptions, doesn't seem like 5 mins since I was looking at your cards from last year!!

You asked about the backing paper that Satin Collie used in her lovely card and it's My Mind's Eye, Quite Contrary - Little Miss Muffet / "Hello Beautiful" - Little Flowers paper (yup, all that description for one piece of paper!! :drunk:) I recognised it straight away from my collection, spent about 20 secs looking for the paper, then gave up and googled!! I love My Mind's Eye and that's a particularly gorgeous collection xx
