Crafting in Gingerbread
Every year my friends and I make a Gingerbread House and yesterday was this year's event. It was our 20th anniversary so in honour of the even my god daughter and I made this banner.

There were 10 of us this year - 4 kids, 6 adults. It's always a really fun, sing-y, laughing, sugary day and is the start of Christmas for me. We decided on a Who-ville theme (an animated version of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' features heavily in our Gingerbread House tradition) - and I think our efforts make a pretty funky colourful centre piece!

I love it! The bunting is beautiful too.

What a fantastic creation!! Do you eventually eat it?
-
That's wonderful, thanks for showing us.

That's brilliant, Soo!. I love the little dog. I'm also dying to know what happens to it. Does it get eaten? I don't think I could bring myself to take a bite out of it! It's too pretty.

That's an amazing creation SooG - gorgeous. But even better must be the fun you all have putting it together.

Oh Wow. It's beautiful but not only that what a lovely tradition you and your friends have.

That is brilliant! I wouldn't be able to bring myself to eat it either.

Thanks everyone! It is a really fun tradition - if a wee bit (ha!) messy. The kids (the oldest is 17, the youngest is 9) are always astounded that we've been making the houses longer than they have been around. :)
The house becomes the centerpiece at my best friend's annual Christmas party - which is always a week later on a Sunday afternoon. It is quite famous there where little faces stare at it and wait anxiously for the moment when towards the end of the party it's put in front of them - and they are finally allowed to take a piece. It takes us about 6 hours to put together, and in no time at all it's gone!
