How many peeps still really love decoupage?

Interesting thread , I love to know what everyone is doing . I like house mouse and Christine Haworth fairies and poppets . I only make them for people I can hand them too. I use stamps for everything I post .

Hi Pinkprincess - I think you must be newish to the forum, I adore decoupage, whe I first started it was big :) but now not so and I don't like the other ages either have to admit!

I used to like it until my husband thought he'd have a go. He moulded and bent every layer so you couldnt see any seams and it ended looking like the wee dogs he was doing were actually coming out the card. It was the most magnificent decoupage I had ever seen :mysmilie_455:

I still do some decoupage, even got myself some new decoupage scissors in the craft fair yesterday, more and more though I'm enjoying all the tricks with die cutting/embossing/stamping and colouring. I still seem to have loads of ready printed sheets (mainly Joanna Sheen stuff) but most of those will be used for charity cards. Most of my decoupaging these days though is made from images I've stamped, diecutted so more matting and layering really I suppose.

Still making a dent in the decoupage for the charity cards and even for the family. I have quite a stash of the flippin still to make up, they still get asked for frequently but am running out of the card blanks for them so last week decided to have a go at making my own. Had to do the modette card for a 60th so got out a set of the grand dies, cut the shape into two white pieces of card, folded the edges, added a third piece for the back of the card and had my own fancy shaped A4 apperture card for less than 50p including envelope so half the cost of the flippin cards.

But of all the charity cards I make the decoupage ones always go first. No idea if the people buying are posting or hand delivering them but it doesnt seem to be lowering the number bought. But I dont go the whole hog and put every layer on - always try to make a second card where possible. I personally think more than three or four layers begins to look OTT and then I am looking to add extra embellishments to balance the card out IYKWIM so I tend to stick to less layers (no pun intended).

I always aim to make two cards from a printed decoupage sheet, especially with charity cards which are going to sell for £1 maximum. One of the charities I gave cards to used to sell them for 50p each. A single sheet of decoupage, piece of A4 and envelope, the glue and a cello bag usually comes to more than that.

I was in a pub in Southport and there were 3 pictures beautifully decoupaged, they were of old shops (bit Harry Potter Diagon Alley) and they did look amazing, it's something I'd love to do but I can never find a big and detailed enough image, La Pashe had a go but I didn't like their drawings.

I've got acouple of A4 ones to do - in fact I've still got the full set - they were on C&C years ago - from A7 up to A4! Must get them done someday.

I just cant be bothered with the cutting out, although I do like to decoupage stamped images.

I also think that some of the decoupage sheets when I first started crafting 12 yrsago were all old fashioned flowers or frilly fans and such nonsense, where as now you get the lovely housemouse and some other nice sheets.

I do admire them when others have done them, I just don't have the patience.

And ROC you know me too well, lol
