really lovely work

If these are only the beggining WOW, and what a lovely idea for the poorly teacher - bet she/he was thrilled, well done you!!
They are beautiful. I bet the children were so proud of their work.
These are super. The quilt is such a lovely idea and as I used to teach year 3s I know how long and how much patience this would have taken you.
You're right Jammy - it took a while!! But it was a real eye opener. The level of ability of putting a needle into a piece of material and pulling it out without unthreading was wide and varied. Those that were good (have to say it was mostly boys!!) said that Gran (and sometimes Mum) sewed and had taught them!! Yay to all the Grannies out there!! The conversations I had with some of them whilst doing this were really illuminating!! Not what you would get during a maths or Literacy lesson!! And they were very proud when we presented it to their teacher on her return - all wanting to point out their own squares!!
Thanks for all the lovely comments!!

What delightful children - teach them the skills when they are little, and they may well keep them for life.
Sometimes I'm indecisive, other times I just can't make my mind up :mysmilie_515:
