Forum Abbreviations

very good idea. I am involved in another forum where these abbreviations turn up. I share responsibility for several boards and some of the emails shared between my co "workers" look like double dutch as we also abbreviate board names!

'kay.....what are 'Dips'? is this an abbreviation for something or is it a nickname? Also....many thanks for the explanations on the abbr. very much needed with me, most grateful for all the time taken to do this also.

Dips is one of our lovely forum members - don't know of any other kind of 'dips'! lol

Just a short list of abbreviations which may help out our newer members – hopefully knowing what some of this jargon means will help to make you less timid about posting. Come on in, the Forum’s lovely :D

This is by no means a definitive list – I don’t profess to be particularly au fait with these abbreviations as I only visit & post on one Forum :D Most of what I know I learned from here! I’m sure we can all add to it, but here are some of the more often used:

LOL – Laugh Out Loud
ROFL – Rolling on the floor laughing
ROFLMAO – Rolling on the floor laughing my – ahem – ‘bottom’ off ;)
PMSL - um, p myself laughing
PITA - pain in the backside
ATM – At The Moment
IIRC – If I Recall/Remember Correctly
IMHO – In My Humble Opinion
IYSWIM – If You See What I Mean
AFAIK – As Far As I Know
TMI – Too Much Information

TBH - To Be Honest
WB – Welcome Back
WTG – Way To Go
DH - Dear/Darling Husband
OH - Other Half
DS - Dear/Darling Son
DD - Dear/Darling Daughter
