Hi I bought a kit to make an apron all the pieces are printed on the fabric, the instructions say to hem it all the way round, I was wondering instead of hemming it would it be OK to bind the edges with a contrasting bias binding instead? Thanks

I think that would be absolutely fine Angela - and would probably look much nicer than just hemming imho xx

Yup it would work well - are you going to make the binding yourself? If you would like any help please PM me - I rarelt read the forum now buut I do check in so I would get it.

Thanks, I' ll have to buy the binding Jane as the material is already printed on so no spare if you get my drift but thanks anyway xx
You could make your own binding in a plain colour to match the print. Making your own bias binding is great fun and you don't need the fancy machine that C&C try to tell us is absolutely essential.

I think that the bias finish would be beautiful! I wouldn't buy the machine either!!!
Sometimes I'm indecisive, other times I just can't make my mind up :mysmilie_515:
Now I feel bad, I've got the machine, used it last week.
Contrasting colour or a colour that's in the other fabric would look fab.
Not essential but extremely useful when you make a lot.
I have the bias making machine too - not the cutting one - and it stops me burning my fingers!
I agree with everyone Angela, binding is a great idea.

I haven't got the cutting one either, I use my TrueCut set of ruler and rotary cutter.
