Default Better late than never...the 2014 Gingerbread House!!

I have FINALLY got round to posting the 2014 gingerbread house. As always it was a fabulous day and we all felt suitably festive (and sugary) when we were done.

This year's theme was a ski chalet.

A day full of things your doctor warns you against: sugar, fizz, pizza is easily one of the best days of the year!! :) :)

You can see more pictures and read more about the day on my blog!

My youngest daughter has started this tradition too - this Christmas was her second. She thinks that this one is ace!

What do you do with it after Christmas/New Year?

I always looked forward to seeing your gingerbread photos. I don't know how you come up with all the scenes - brilliant, it must be so much fun to do with everyone joining in.

Thanks for all the kind comments!!

Victoria - that's great that your daughter has started the tradition! It really is a highlight of my Christmas.

The house is used as the centrepiece at my best friend's Christmas party. Children stare at it for a couple of hours before they finally get the go ahead to eat it!! It gets demolished in minutes (seconds!).

We don't do much (any) pre-planning. People just come up with ideas on the day and start building! Occasionally we'll have competing ideas but luckily we've always been able to settle them without any candies being hurt! :)

I have to give a lot of credit to the kids (my best friend's kids) -- they are all super creative and believe ANYTHING can be built out of candy!!

    Wow!!!! SooG it is fabulous.

For the first time my granddaughter and her brother made a much smaller gingerbread house for Christmas. I don't think they quite got the mechanics of how to as the roof was slipping somewhat by Christmas day. But it was a good first attempt.

    Another lovely creation
My daughter has made one the last three years
Nothing as elaborate as yours though
This year she made the gingerbread but that was as far as she got
