My Canon is a front loader bought last year and handles Centura Pearl. It doesn't automatically double side so you need your wits about you. It's an All In One and I can use the Silhouette PixScan mat with it. Cheap cartridges from Amazon - it has three colour and two black. It is WiFi and Airprints from my iPad.MG 5550.
forgot - got it from PC World £60 ish

Doesn't look a bad price, might consider a Canon in the distant future. Must be honest I print card making stuff so rarely these days that it doesn't really matter what it takes, just so long as it prints on paper.

My present printer is an HP top loader, nearly fainted when I noticed that. More of an effort to fill the thing than it was a front loader as it is on the bottom shelf of my desk, so I have to grovel on the floor to get to the back of it. Haven't the foggiest idea what sort of thickness of card it will take, never tried any, not even thin card. I really only use it as a photocopier/scanner, or to print off my prick and stitch stuff. That reminds me, there are some new goodies that need to be checked out. :)

The only drawback to Canon is the price of the cartridges - the electronics on them mean you can't get the cheaper ersatz versions I was able to buy for my old printer, nor can you refill them.

Last whole set from Amazon was £10.99 which is reasonable I think. They work as well which wasn't happening with the Epson it replaced.

Might just be the ones for my printer then - the cheaper cartridge shop had them available for other models, but I have had to pay £20 plus for colour cartridges. In future I'd check availability of cartridges before I bought - good printer at a cheap price, but expensive to maintain!

Goodness, I'm lucky then - I use compatibles for mine (MG5350) and they only cost peanuts for the whole set - £2.85 (really !) this is my third lot of compatibles from this company (http://www.hornseainkjets.co.uk) and I haven't had any problems. I have no connection whatsoever, other than as a customer, don't know what P&P is 'coz I pick them up.

Always worth knowing the things work- my Epson kept saying it couldn't recognise them and refusing to print. I tried all sorts of tricks to no avail. That's why I had to buy the Canon. After a dot matrix printer my very first inkjet was a Canon with four cartridges that I had for years , it was fabulous. I only had to give it up when the waste tank was full. I used it with my Acorn computer and that was truly brilliant too.

I made a mistake when I bought my current Canon, it only has two ink cartridges one colour and one black and you couldn't get compatibles the last time I bought them. The one before this one was also a Canon but had separate cartridges and you could buy compatibles. I'll certainly look for a Canon with separate cartridges when I need a new one lol.

They do the twin cartridges too but I don't know if they're cost effective, they give a list of model numbers next to each pack of the ones they're suitable for. Also toners and suchlike too for laser ones.
