    Default Carabelle

With the Carabelle Gel Press stamps do you HAVE to have the Gel Press? Sounds like a dumb question, but I wondered if you could put Oxides on a glass mat and put the stamp onto that to transfer the ink? I fancy having a go and Hixxysoft have the stamps in, but I don't want to keep spending - having said that, I want, no need, some more Oxide ink pads......

No, you don't have to have the gel press. I have a couple of them to use as regular stamps. They are very thin and floppy rubber though, much softer than the regular Carabelle stamps. Mine are just background patterns so I lay the stamp face up on my glass mat, ink the stamp, then press the card down onto it. The only thing to beware of is the ones that have writing on them - if you use them to stamp directly they will come out backwards i.e. a mirror image. If you stamp it on the gelli plate then it is backwards on the gel and the print you pull off it will be right way round.

Thanks very much. I might invest in the Gel plate if I enjoy getting messy

Add on - Crikey, just looked at the prices - think I might have to save up.

You can make your own with gelatine if cost is an issue - someone on here did, was it Jammy?

Is it just my computer or is anyone else having problems with the forum today? I click on thanks and nothing happens and I'm having issues trying to post replies as well.

My problem seems to be with Firefox - half the time I can't access sites and if I can it's very slow.
