Real vellum cost a fortune, in fact Gutenberg couldn't have all his editions of the bible. I think he is supposed to have printed 100 on vellum, the rest were on hand made paper. Folks still use vellum for special works. The skins are are just another byproduct of the meat industry.

Ah yes, can't beat rice paper for meringues. I still use it on the odd occasion I make them. I love my none stick paper, Tesco no longer sell greaseproof paper, but still can't beat rice paper for some things. :)

A phrase that is getting up my nose is changing history forever. Bad enough trying to change history, but that word forever really does my head in. Don't they understand that history cannot be changed, well not unless one can come up with a different slant on it, as in cutting through the fibs?
