Default Symbols on cross stitch charts?

Have you ever had a cross stitch chart that doesn't show one of the symbols in the list of threads?

It's been a while since I've done any cross stitch so cannot remember. Can you contact the company who designed the chart to check?
Could it be one of the existing colours but you use one thread instead of two, or you may need to use two different threads together? Worth checking the written description in case they have mentioned some extra instructions which they have forgotten to add to the thread list.
Hope you manage to work it out

Thanks Lioness, I've read everything on the chart - even checked on the back lol. It's a Lavender & Lace chart although it's new to me it's dated 1994. There's a very small picture of the finished piece so no hope of seeing it there. I'll have a look online to see if I can find anyone who has had the same problem.

Thanks Lioness, that looks like a very good site unfortunately mine isn't there.

I'm trying to find a website for Lavender and lace but can't. Not sure if they are still here as the charts are so old.

    That's a shame
Ive just tried to see if I could find anything, and I suspect that there not be one, see below:

    Profile - Lavender & Lace
Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum of Lavender & Lace has no formal art training but has been an artist since a child.

While living in the country she made very close Amish friends and took inspiration from them for her cross stitch designs. Her business grew over more than 20 years.

Her designs are also published under Told in a Garden and Butternut Road.

She passed away in August 2012.

I found that on this website which has a few L&L kits:

Thanks Lioness, that's a much better picture than the ones I found. I suppose I'll just have to put what I think looks best. I have emailed someone but don't know if they'll be able to help. I'll leave it a couple of days to see if I get a reply.

I've done all of the bride ones and the wedding one and didn't have any problems with them.

I really don't like the angel ones lol.

Which chart is it - I have some Lavender & Lace charts and if I have it I might be able to spot the issue. Agree with all the other suggestions. Another possibility is that it is a half cross stitch rather than a full one - that has caught me out before now!

Hi CSF it's 'The Quiltmaker'. I've never had a problem with the Lavender and Lace ones before and think it's strange that it hasn't been corrected on the site Lioness gave to me. They are usually pretty good with their instructions. The symbol is on the little girls sleeve (the one on the left of the chart).

    The symbol is '@'.

Well, I've looked at some other Lavender and Lace charts and two of them have that symbol but they are different colours - so not helpful at all lol.
