Default Long platform/mats? for Borderabilities dies & Sissix decorative strips

As usual i have done things back to front, mainly because of 'picking up a bargain' !

Yesterday I bought a couple of reduced spellbinder borderabilities, one of which is 12" long.
I also picked up in a sale just after Christmas a Sissix decorative strip and also an extended spacer platform.

But what i don't have is the acrylic mats to use with them.........I think I thought they would be with the platform ( but probably didn't think of it all!)

So before I trot off searching for these long thin 'mats' Have I forgotten anything else I may need?

I haven't used any of the long thin dies from Spellbinders, nor the Sissix strips before......so would appreciate advice. Then at least I can get whatever, hopefully at the same time

You don't say what machine you have - but if I were you I'd google the type of extended cutting plates you need to see who has what you need. You can put them through twice cutting one end and then the other but you need to tape the die and paper together so it doesn't move when you reposition the dies for the second part of the cut.
I have the long Tim Holtz film strip die and I bought the extended plates for my cuttlebug from cuttingedge as they were the cheapest around at that time.

If you're using a Big Shot and the extended spacer platform is the narrow decorative strip one ( about 3" wide) then you will need the 13" cutting mats. If you've got an Essentials Platform (same length but 6" wide) you need the Bigz extended cut mats. However if you want to use the spellbinders grand Borderabilities with either you will also need the Exended Adapter to bring the sandwich up the correct thickness. Also if you want emboss with the dies you'll need a couple of 3" x 12" tan embossing mats.

For anyone buying new and wanting to use Decorative Strips and Grand Borerabilities with a big shot I'd recommend the new Solo Platform, Wafer Thin Die Adapter and Bigz XL Cutting Pads as these will cover most needs.

Thanks Rich for that explanation...........but I'm still confused
    What I have got is
Sissix extended spacer platform & some sizzlits decorative strips-
Spellbinder borderabilities S7-018 Grand 12" Big Scalloped Border Grand

So if I'm reading you right, I'm looking for the 13" cutting mats?

But if I throw the narrow spacer platform out of the equation (its still in package unused)
the I need to go for the Solo platform, wafer thin die adapter & Bigz xl cutting pads, is that right?

So really the later option perhaps is the best?

    Hiya,

If you've got the narrow extended platform then this will be fine for the decorative strips if you just add the 13" cutting mats but you will still need the Extended Adapter to be able to use the Grand Border because it is much thinnner than the decorative strip. It's basically just a thin pad that fits under the main platform. So your cheapest option would be a set of 13" cutting pads and the Extended Adapter.

Ignoring the narrow extended platform then yes Solo Platform, Wafer Thin Die Adapter and Bigz XL cutting pads. This is a more expensive option obviously but has the advantage that you have a set of Bigz XL cutting pads if any XL dies take your fancy.

Also don't forget the 3" x 12" tan embossing mats if you want to emboss with the grand border as well.

    Hope that helps
